9-19-24 THOUGHTS
Jesus speaks about himself in our reading this morning. The Numbers 21:9 area tells the story that becomes a type for the antitype declared here. The way of eternal life is our subject! God loved and gave! His son is “the what!” Belief is used most powerfully by Jesus. YES on belief ... He says you aren’t judged! It seems that a NO on belief in Jesus, leaves one in a existing state of judgment! It takes belief in the death-burial-resurrection of the Son of God, to save from the condemnation of sin. Rom 3:23-24 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;”
Light and darkness are introduced to our discussion. Our “practicing the truth comes to the LIGHT.” May we be the light of God in Christ Jesus.
John 3:14-21 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
My Prayer:
Thank You, O God, for the light and truth and grace and mercy that is in Christ Jesus. We are saved in Him, praise be to our God! Thank You that we abide in You, rather than our former condemnation. Help us to diligently be practicing Your Truth. May souls be won and the needy be served as we live for You. Help us to be strangers to this earth as we focus on our eternal hope. May we be absorbed in your love and abiding in Your Presence.
In the name of our Savior, Amen.
